Night of the Living Dead
George A. Romero

Many people who enjoy good horrors would have, or at least should have seen George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. Even though there were horror movies of the same caliber around before Night, Night is one of my favorite Romero’s movies. The fact that it is based in an isolated farmhouse in the countryside is a great setting for what is about to happen. Judith O’Dea and Duane Jones played their roles fantastic, hitting every emotion at the right time. The characters in Night of the Living Dead were both well written and well acted. The special effects from this original 1968 version were, of course, very different to the remake in 1990, which was directed by make-up and special effects guru himself, Tom Savini.
The simple line “They’re coming to get you Barbara” allowed a whole generation of horror fans to adore what was to follow. Of course Romero was the Director but he didn’t solely write this classic, we owe a huge thanks to his co-writer John Russo.

So in Chester’s view, Night of the Living Dead is an amazing movie, it’s the bricks and mortar for a solid foundation to any movie collection.
